The Barangay League owned by Barangay LLC is made up entirely of long-time friends and rec league teammates. We love competing against other teams and pushing ourselves as far as we can go. But season after season, we kept searching for the ideal league. A league with clearly established rules that all teams and players must abide by. A league so organized that players have zero distractions and can completely focus on the game. A league that handpicks its referees to ensure quality officiating. A league that treats its players like professional hoopers. As we kept looking for such a league, we started asking, “Why not make it ourselves?” This idea quickly turned into a shared vision, and that vision into a reality. Thus, the Barangay League was born.

Barangay is the native Filipino term for a village, district, or ward. In metropolitan areas, a barangay often refers to an inner city neighborhood or a suburb. People living within a barangay develop a strong sense of identity and belonging to their local community. Part of our vision for the league is to promote these concepts of identity and belonging, both within each team and the league as a whole. This lead us to officially dub our league the Barangay League.

The league logo is anchored by three stars. These stars signify the values we strive to instill within our league - Competition, Comradeship, Community.
